WHAT IS OUTDOOR SIGNAGE ?

Outdoor signage is used to impart information or direct visitors in retail outlets, commercial premises, airports, concert venues and public buildings. Examples of printed outdoor signage include vinyl lettering, direction signs, outdoor PVC banners, backlit displays and information boards. Outdoor signage is usually printed on weatherproof substrates such as vinyl, PVC or vinyl mesh for locations where exposure to strong wind is expected.

Uses

There are many different types of outdoor signage each being specially designed for a specific purpose. Common uses for outdoor signage include:

• Corporate signs outside showrooms and office buildings
• Shop front signs, show window displays and fascias
• Estate agents signs to advertise properties for sale or rental
• Directional signs for traffic or to direct visitors to the correct location on large sites such as colleges, hospitals, government buildings and industrial estates.
• Construction site signs and building wraps to disguise scaffolding and provide an impression of what the finished building will look like

• Illuminated signs for petrol stations, advertising and retail outlets

Sizes - standard sizes for Corex and Foamex signs are A4, A3, A2, A1 and A0. Billboards come in different sizes from 6 sheet to 96 sheet but the norm is 48 sheet. Custom sizes and Large Format outdoor signage up to 5m wide are available on request.
Substrate materials – Outdoor signage is available on a wide variety of substrates to suit every purpose:

• FOAMEX is a flexible material which comes in various thicknesses (1mm, 3mm, 5mm or 10mm). It can be used as a backing for signage instead of a frame. Graphics can also be printed directly onto foamex. The main advantages of Foamex are its light weight and durability - up to 10 years.
• PAPER  - high quality 120gsm for billboards and posters offers greater tear resistance and is blue backed for reduced show through of previous posters
• ALUMINIUM sheets of 3mm thickness are used as a backing for self adhesive vinyl graphics and lettering and to make signposts.
• DIBOND is a relatively lightweight yet strong aluminium composite material consisting of a polyethylene core covered on both sides with aluminium sheets.
• SELF ADHESIVE VINYL graphics and lettering are another option for applying outdoor signage to almost any type of smooth non-porous surface.
• CANVAS & TEXTILES – mainly used for banners.
• MESH FABRIC – Standard vinyl mesh has excellent wind resistance and lasts up to a year. We can also supply high specification Supreme fabric with finer mesh which is ideal for fine image reproduction for high quality graphics
